Who We Are
We’re a small team with a strong vision. Our aim is to tackle big topics in an accessible way and get people talking.
We don’t have all the answers. Not even close. And that’s why we need your help – to talk, to learn, and to grow. Together, we want to improve the world we live in.
What We Do
Simply put, we write e-books. Each one tackles issues which can affect all of our lives. Subjects like race. If you’ve ever watched the news or read a newspaper and felt like your truth isn’t being represented, you’re exactly who we want on our team.
Why We Do It
These are unusual times where America’s first black President was succeeded by a man who rallied for ’a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States’. An age where the 2018 Word of the Year was awarded to the term ‘toxic’. A world where inconvenient truths are labelled ‘fake news’. And where taking a knee is no longer an act of submission, but one of defiance.
These times call for difficult conversations. We want to get the ball rolling and make things a little bit easier.
About Me
My name’s Adeyemi Oke. But you can call me Yemi.
I wasn’t always a writer. I’m not even sure I’d call myself a writer now. But as I entered adulthood I felt a growing urge to make my voice heard. This is my shot at doing that.
Throughout school I had little interest in writing, or even reading for that matter. But around my mid-20s I started to pick up the odd book here and there. I read a lot about black history and African culture. I began to learn things I’d never heard mentioned in school, and it made me realise how much I could be missing out on.
I started reading about anything that interested me. Biographies of inspirational figures. I read up on sports – football, mostly. I explored books on self-improvement and growth.
Which brings us to where we are today.
It took me a while to discover the world of literature, and to fully appreciate what an impact it can have on a person. Now, I want to give something back through my own writing.
I want to get all minds buzzing with thoughts which will inspire them. I want to know that I’ve done my part to have a positive impact on the next generation. I want to be a friend to readers.
Now that you know who I am, it’s time I got to know you. If there’s anything you’d like to discuss, or any questions you might have, please give me a shout by hitting the button below.
